Task and Requirements
In before the project we had to set up groups of 3 to 4 people each (including at least one Chinese member) and decide for a team leader, who later on should communicate with the customers (represented by the teachers).
Our task was to develop a system, which autonomously explores a closed classroom and creates a map of the boundaries and the inner obstacles which later can be displayed as map on a PC.
For fulfilling this task we got some requirements such as a resolution of half of system size (whereas system size ≤ DIN A4), the main motion of the system should be achieved with the help of belts or chains, usage of industrial components as far as possible, usage of a rechargeable battery, return of robot to origin if this battery is empty and mounting signal lamps for states of operation (for deeper view into requirements see appendix). The budget given to each group was defined with 400, - €.
Furthermore we had to do intermediate presentations for showing the customers our progress.
